Concerning family relationships, I think that parents should try their best to be as close as possible to their children. What I mean is that they should gain their trust so that whenever the child has a problem or question, he/she will never ask his/her friends but parents. I have a serious problem with my parents. I can't tell them anything because they are so strict that I prefer to tell everything to my grandmother, aunties or boyfriend because they listen to me. It really hurts me to not be close to my mother as my friends are with theirs. She never gave me the opportunity to discuss anything with her I mean I tried but as soon as I start she makes faces or even stops me I wish I could tell her about my love relationship, how I feel and all those stuff but I can't and I think that it's too late now to do it.
Just to tell you how important it is for parents to be friendly to their children and open minded.

It is very interesting what you said to us here and, in more, you have shown us another direction of the subject we did not see up to that point. That's true, the relation parent-children is not always one of the most limpid! What I do not understand, but I believe that it is rather rare to see parents who do not manage to communicate with their children. Often, there is at least one of the parents who is a confidant for the son or the girl.
Me, I do not have really any problem to discuss with my parents of all that I want. Sometimes even, some think that my father is my elder brother when we are together! I will return.

Well of course yes!
In fact I'd like to discuss about a really difficult subject!: Why does God allow human suffering in life such as the innocent people dying in terrorism, racism and so on.

You have raised a very difficult subject indeed! Will somebody be able to answer such a question? It is a pity because we will not be able to telephone God to ask him.
But, according to some lesson drawn from the Coran, one can try to bring a certain answer which I will not guarantee valid.

First, I think that for God, death is not dramatic because it could quite simply make so that nobody never dies. Perhaps, the dead person live in a better place after their death.
Only the alive ones complain about death but not the dead persons themselves. No one knows if they regret or not to have died!

Then, God defended with the men not to make injustice in earth because his punishment, if it occurs, will not save anybody, even the right ones. It is what we observe with the natural disasters like seisms, floods, wars,… I learnt that with Islam.

Well Modou I like your contribution however just some quick notes: concerning the dead people, you said that they don't complain about their death because they are somehow in a better place there in that other life...But that depends whether that person used to do good things in life. For example, I learnt in Islam that good people's soul will be brought very high among a heavenly mountain and on the other hand, the unbelievers, I mean the bad people will be brought in a moutain where hell breathes ( sort of), till the Judgement Day. So that place's gonna be a bad one for those souls in it.
Therfore, my question was: Why does He allows suffering and life's hardness?
I was waiting for an answer in which you'll indicate some examples of life's injustice like the innocent people who die in terrorism or in wars, people who die of hunger in Africa and things like that...

For the examples, you can take the example of Noah's Ark. God had sent plenty of envoys to warn men and to tell them that they were risking his ire if they did not cease making the injustice.
Thus he decided to cut down a flood on them and were then eliminated plenty of right men and women at the same time as the unjust ones.

Why did God create the AIDS?
A punishment against people who make adultery, a punishment which does not save the right ones either!

Why Iraq is always devastated by wars? Perhaps because they had decapitated the grandson of the prophet…

Why people continue to suffer from hunger in Africa? Perhaps, it is because God wants them to continue to think of him, to beseech his forgiveness, to continue to believe in him…
I really do not know but perhaps what I am telling is true. As for these wretchs who die and who will breathe the hot wind coming from Hell and that until the day of the Last Judgement, it is true that for them, death is dramatic and you are right to think of them. It is precisely the question whose answer will be difficult for a human being. It is as if one asked the question to know why God did create Hell whereas he could put everyone in Paradise? No one really knows!
This is why it is often said that in religion, if one wants his spirit quiet, he has to only obey and not to ask too much questions because he risks to unbeleave thereafter. I think that God created our brain so that it won't be able to find the answer to certain questions.

T.o.k stands for Theory Of Knowledge and I'm to do an extended essay on a really interesting theme next year for a bonus 3 points in my international baccalaureat.
In fact our english teachers at school aren't senegalese ( some of them are brtish, some americans and others are anglophones from Estonia and some african countries like Ghana).

Is the level of this international baccalaureat comparable with our national baccalaureat? Is this formation carried out at Dakar?

I think that t.o.k is what is called philosophie in French, or philosophy in English.

My high school offers the program of the IB ( you can go and check at their website www.ibo.org). And yes our baccaulaureat is very different from the national one and the diploma of the IB is recognised everywhere with even a scholarship and a 2 or 3 years of university+ some qualified degrees or certificates in your fields.

Well for me age diference can be a very big problem in a couple. I mean if you take the example of our african societies where the young lady of 13 years is married to a 35- year-old man....you see what I'm talking about?
The fact is that I don't think it's a good idea because it may change the younger patner's mind and things like that.
But nowadays we see that age isn't a major problem as if you see a 22 year-old senegalese woman marrying a 69 year old sugar daddy just for money...man that's sad!

Yes Sweetgirl, this kind of marriage does not say really anything to me. I always wondered how a girl of a score of years can link herself to a man exceeding forty.
Me, I think that I won't be able to marry a woman less old than me of more than 7 years.
I believe that there will be often disconnections due to the age difference with such marriages. It is perhaps not always true but I think that it is in many cases. Certain girls want to marry only rich men and rich men are in general old. That's why we often attend marriages between very young girls and old men.

Concerning the marriages where the woman is much older than the man, it is rather rare on our premises but me I do not think either that I will be able to engage me in such marriages because women age, in general, more quickly than men. However, I do not forget that one of the prophet's women (SAW) was older than him of about fifteen years!
