I think that taking the dugouts is absolutely not a solution for these young people who think that Europe is an eldorado! Getting a job in Europe (in France I should say) is not an easy thing when you don't have the qualifications and the required papers. Moreover, having them does not guarantee always the success because of racism. French men like to entrust the heavy work and those which they do not like to do to foreigners. When one is tall, with red eyes and a very black color, he has all his chances to be able to be a watchman in a supermarket for example!

I'll come back because it's a very important topic!

yeah that's it! even if you have good qualification is difficult to find a job.
I mean... it's hard for me (a native) and it's worst for you (non-native)

But if what they find in Europe is better than what they can hope in their own country, this is quite normal they leave.

In my point of view, the most degrading "fact" in the immigration is the reality we have to join by leaving our mother land for some tempory "student's job" in Europe. This is the worst side, and unfortunatly, most of the "immigrants" does this kind of Job (plonge, in France etc...).

'Cause most of the immigrants live in precarious circumstances... they have to share a flat, they don't have papiers, the contract is non-existent, the standard life is high.... to say, to earn one's living is quite HARD

    Mister Thiam,
About making the crockery, I think that it is comprehensible for the students who do not have a scholarship and who do not find other means to provide for their needs.
On the other hand, giving up its studies to devote himself exclusively to these kinds of jobs is degrading.

Hodei, it is true that some of them manage to have better than they would have had by remaining on their premises but it should not be a reason to risk his life in the ocean for something of very hypothetical!
Comparison is not reason as the French are used to say.
Even if the standard of living is high in Europe, these immigrants manage, by adopting the same standard of living that they had at home and by sharing apartments, to make lots of economies and finally to become rich once returned in their own countries!
But, I think that if they agreed to do so many efforts on their premises, they could also succeed.
Thinking that success is inevitably elsewhere without seeking to evaluate all the difficulties and all the risks which are related to this choice is a serious error which can be fatal!

Mister Thiam, I think that the type of the jobs is not very awkward but it would be rather the means used to engage himself in a so perilous adventure in the ocean! It is what I cannot understand. In spite of the many accidents which arrive at sea, they nevertheless accept to go to risk their life!

THIAM, seriously... we should better try to find another subject... to repeat something over and over again, it's tiring. scratch

    Ok... let's talk then... Ehey

From my point of view, a genetic point, inbreeding may result in a far higher expression of deleterious recessive genes within a population than would normally be expected. As a result, first-generation inbred individuals are more likely to show physical and health defects

Unions contracted between persons biologically related as second cousins or closer are categorized as consanguineous.

Moreover, don't you think this is a kind of incest?

    Hello everybody...
That's my first time posting in here (not the forum but under this subject)
I hope everybody is doing alright....
I tried to browse through some of the posts on the previous pages but there was so much written that I couldn't read it all, anyways.
The relationship between members of a family, that's the topic right? Are you talking about the nuclear family (dad, mom and kids) or are you including the extended family members? Are you considering family in an african context or just in general?

You're right Hodei. This guy likes to make speak people whereas he does not dare to express himself in Shakespeare's language!

About the new subject, I think that occidentalization (adopting the egoistic behavior of Toubabs who want to live with their only two children and a dog or a cat), I think (in any case, it is what I could see in Senegal) that it is more notable among women. It is not rare on our premises in Senegal, to see a man who is obliged to separate from his friends and from his close relations because of the inhospitality of his wife who does not accept them. I have a friend who speaks to me only about divorce because his wife can't stand his brothers, his cousins and nephews at home !
What is really a pity . For me, the best proof of love which my wife could make me is to love my friends and my close relations as she loves me.

I disagree with you Modou. The couple is the couple. When you are single, you are single. When you get married you have to learn to behave as a married man. You can have all your extended family and friends come over as they used to. There is gotta be this special time for you and your wife. Having people all the time at home is not supposed to be that happens everyday but rather on weekends or some weekday evenings. Do not forget that taking care of a house, cooking, cleaning and all that is not easy job. And sometimes men take it for granted. Plus it is just nice to learn to spend time with your family which is ultimately your wife and your kids (no pets for me). Believe me family can be deceiving. Even people who call themselves seu mbok can vanish as soon as something goes wrong, so you can be close to them but you always, and as a man, as the borom keur, you always got a leave a little distance, so people do not cross over too close!!
Think this through... it's valuable advice!

What was interesting in your answer is that you did not deny the facts I observed myself and that you rather put yourself to defend the fact of having to live alone with his wife and his children and to see the others from time to time only!
It is a really western vision of the things but we, Senegalese men I wanna say, we do not like that at all in general and to live happy with us, it is important to take account of it.

I find that it is really a pity that a person often met only by chance can draw aside us from our family. This family which knew us well before the meeting of this person! Each one is free to have his opinion but, in what relates to me, a woman not agreeing to see my close relations and friends at home will not be able to last with me. When a hen is loved, it should be it with its eggs or with its chicks like we say in my mother language! The presence of the others in the house cannot really harm the tranquility of the couple if they are really of good types! I woud be really bored with only my wife and my children; I need to be surrounded by my close relations and my childhood friends ; it is for that that as soon as I return to Senegal, I do not cease traversing Senegal to see everyone in my extended family. Can you tell me, in what the presence of the others really obstructs you? Would women be more selfish than men? I don't understand! help me!

Modou, do not generalize you case. I am an african woman, who grew up in a african family, with african habits. We grew up with everybody around. But believe me, only your closest family members are the ones you can rely on.
Do not think that all senegalese men think like, that is a false statement. I know what I am talking about. I know a lot of them who are fed up with hypocrites in the family, people who are there, aunts, uncles, cousins, when you parents have money and disappear whenever things go wrong, or go around and gossip about bad stuff that happens to you. I have lived that and I have seen a lot of people go through that as well. I would love to have my cousins, sisters, friends, my husbands friends, cousins, brothers, sisters, aunts, but believe with the way that we think sometimes as african it is not as easy. Plus, remember to count the number of people that will be left around you supporting you when eveything will go wrong.
I know a lot of senegalese couple and families (all born and raised in Senegal) who think like I do. Extended family ok, but not too much... because sometimes you just can't breathe with everybody always around, especially those who call themselves your mbok just because they expect something from you... Again, I know what I am talking about!

Sasi, I believe that you would not have written what you wrote if you had been attentive a little. I had said in general (read again my sentence above), which wants to say that what I said relates to many people but not to all. There are, indeed, men who do not want their close relations at home but, me and many other people whom I know, we like to be with our friends and our close relations. It is obvious that concerning the malevolent and opportunist relatives, nobody wants of them but as for those who have no problems and who do not have the means of living alone yet, nor to satisfy themselves their needs, one should in theory support them. Me, in what relates to me, I will do so, insha' allah.

    Soon!

Yeah if you see it this way then we both agree. What I wanted you to realize is that sometimes in our african families we put a lot of people in our families before our wife/husband/kids. I know some women who are married but their listen to some bad advice coming from their mom or sisters, or friends. I personnally would avoid, once married, having too many single friends/cousins coming too much over. Same for my husband. Married people should hang out with married ones because sometimes their respective lives take different turns. Now if you are talking about normal family members, that's fine. But on my opinion, not everyday. I want time with my husband and kids, especially if we both work and kids go to school, the only time we can spend time together is on evenings. If you have 10 people coming over each evening, I doubt you are going to be able to stand that after a while even if it is people you love, or appreciate being with...
This being said, the father and mother of my husband as well as mine, his brother and sisters as well as mine have a special place as relatives.
I am just being careful because family thing sometimes can go soooo wrong.... especially when too many people put their mouth into your personal life. And sometimes the best thing to do to avoid that is to know the people that you can trust, but also know when to put a little distance... it happens to be beneficial a lot of times...

Sasi, I agree entirely with your new post. One cannot accept everyone at home and I said it before but my parents, mys sisters and other good friends, I will not be able to refuse them. I would not love a woman who separates me from my close relations and who monopolizes me as if I existed only for her.

For me, parents, brothers and sisters and certain good friends are as important as a wife and or children. It is not a question to put the ones before the others but to love them all and to maintain excellent relations with them! The presence of the others in the house will not be able to prevent me from bringing to my wife and my children what I owe them: love, tenderness,... in short all that they will need.

I agree with you exept for one point:
"parents, brothers and sisters and certain good friends are as important as a wife and or children".
NEVER. My husband and my kids are more important that anything and that anybody.
Second, I am not talking about a wife separating from your friends. Marriage is a union and a contract. You have to both agree on how you would live your life as a married couple and the kind of relationship you want with your family. And sometimes, a husband can separate his wife from her friends and family too so... I am just saying it is not about you and what who you want to have over, it is abut what you and your wife, both together want to have over. And that is especially that those things must be agreed upon before the marriage.
But again, my husband is above anybody else (except God). We become one. Same for a wife. You can't put somebody else and your wife at the same standpoint. You get married to become one with your wife. So I do not think that is even a point to discuss, on my opinion, of course.

Concerning your last sentence, we can indeed discuss this point of view if you want because the most important thing is not to make change point of view the other but rather to know what he/she thinks and to read a well written English.
I find that it is pleasant and I would like to say to you that you write English well .

I agree that the two persons must form a couple to represent two halves of only one entity. Yes, for me, the wife is indeed an exceptional being for the husband (and vice versa, all that I say for women is also valid for men even if I do not say it expressly). But this exceptionnality does not make of her (or him) the most important human being for me. You said it, each one of us does nothing but deliver his opinion and does not seek to make rejoin the other with his/her ideas.
It is the difference which makes the beauty of our existence. Isn't it?

Me on the other hand, I spoke more about these women who can't stand their husband's friends or relatives at all because I know many of them.
I can say that I won't be able to stand such women.

So long Inshallah, as Esclave d'Al-Aziz would say, a young man in the forum who fell insane in love with all his she-cousins.
